Planning our kitchen
We have a corner pantry, and I love it. You can see everything, plenty of space.
Where to fit external lights in new home
I would place them at the entry and garage, and at the laundry, as well as to the rear of the dining/family.
Is this true about single storey homes?
I would agree they have less resale value. It can feel a bit claustrophic to be 'looked down on' by your neighbours.
Ugly or not?
it looks very barn-like. In Qld you'd want a verandah or two - but I assume Huon Valley is in Tas? In which case you probably won't be spending much…
Ensuite via WIR or separate entrance?
I think it's a personal preference. I prefer them separate, for mould issues.
Sharon's Build HGWA countdown to splashback
I imagine that would supply the pump since the system itself is gas?
Blind help please
We have a cream sunscreen one- you can't see through it from the outside at all (during the day), but still can see out from inside, have light and get…
Statesman-Greenock at Elizabeth Park - moved in
Congratulations on keys! Garage floor looks great
West facing bedrooms
Will you have enough space to plant some trees on the western side?
Cost front door replacement?
that sounds about in the right ballpark. Cost does depend on the style of the door as well.
How Do I Organise Fencing With Neighbours on a New Build?

Suggestions/opinions on new plan
For solar benefits, you want living areas towards the north, and bedrooms to the south. If possible, minimise western windows. Agree with kat, draw all your furniture as you'll have…

Ours is our main TV/lounge room. We have a small kids lounge in the main living area, but the theatre is 'our' room. It has our big TV (+ gaming…
Building our first home -- HELP!!
We built with a small local builder. They offered a decent price for what we wanted (we got a few quotes, from big builders and small). They also offered a…
Decision time
We worked out the rough plan we wanted, and then looked at builders to see who had something similar.
What’s the point in data points?
We got data points for our game consoles, media streaming, TVs. If this is something you will never use, then no need to stress about it. If you are in…
list of things to fix
We would regularly visit site, and bring up any issues as we noticed them. Sometimes the builder had already organised to fix, other times not, and he never got narky…
