OWNIT Homes - Any experience?

Sounds like a challenging experience BrisbaneWestie.
Unfortunately it doesn’t sound like you are the only one to experience a less than ideal building experience, despite what the internet reviews…

Thanks Jillho and Max.

Hey BrisbaneWestie
Did you end up building with Ownit homes? Interested to see how anyone has gone building with Ownit. They look good but seem to have some interesting reviews…

Tile grout

No. I’ve tried Koh, Jif, baking Soda and vinegar and nothings worked. A tiler friend said it can be caused from cheap products and if that’s the case nothing will…

Let me know if you find a solution. Our charred ash grout went white too.

Insulation is it worth upgrading???

Yes - it’s worth upgrading. Our neighbours always comment on how much cooler our house is in summer than theirs. We upgraded both wall and ceiling insulation and then installed…

Custom House Plan - Suggestions

Possibly put sliding doors on the minor bedroom wardrobes to give more options with furniture placement. That’s the only suggestion I have.

Is brickwork cracking a structural concern?

Get a copy of the standards for your state. I would check the size of your perpends, they look quite inconsistent and they might not meet standard. Queensland’s weren’t too…

Who's building with Clarendon??

If you are in NSW I believe that meets their standards. Queensland has to have all the walls in the shower done.

Void and/or increased ceiling heights

I would definitely take up the 2.7m ceilings and increase the height of windows and doors downstairs as well. We did and it makes the space feel much bigger -…

Building with Metricon

I’m not sure on the upgrade but I would ask for an anticon blanket to be included if you go with the colourbond for noise reduction.

Would agree with this. Friends built with Clarendon a year before us and had an excellent built. When we built nothing but headaches. Still finding issues with our build or…

Our inspector picked up a lot of things Clarendon didn’t. I think it’s definitely worth having your own.

I’d still have my own inspector.

Coral Homes general build thread

We have monument gutters (similar coloured roof tile - maybe sanctuary) and surf mist render. We have wallaby around the garage, so garage door is surfmist too.

Electrical, tiling and carpet were the ones that stung us. We had already upgraded the kitchen when we went to tender and thought we had put sufficient provisions in ($5k)…

We had provision for solar put in and did it after handover. We didn’t do a battery but paid just under $10k for a 10kw inverter and 8kw of panels.…

We did. Winter ice looks like this

You’ve picked very similar colours to what we have. I was told 3 colours max on the facade. We have monument roof, gutters, facade and windows. We then have wallaby…
