Where best to place your water tank

Sometimes water tanks can look conspicuous around your property. It may be useful to think about some ways they can blend more into you house and land. Here are some suggestions.
- If you are ordering a colorbond tank then you choose a colour that blends into any existing paintwork to your house, sheds, garage doors or fence for example. That way it looks like it was deliberately chosen to go in that location, and it will fit in with the surrounding structures and become less noticeable.
- If it is a stainless steel water tank then you can do the opposite and make the tank a deliberate feature of your design to look like a modern version of a traditional galvanised tank used in many properties in earlier days.
- Place the tank along a fence line or in a corner so that it is not sitting in the middle of an open space where it will be more obvious.
- Plant evergreen shrubs and/or small trees or bushes or flowers as a screen between the tanks and places where people will see them easily. The plants need to be some distance from the tank so there is no danger in the roots disturbing the tank base.
- You could order a slimline tank to fit neatly under the eaves of a house or shed and where it is not in the full view of passersby.
- Similarly, you could order a tank to fit exactly into an out-of-the-way location behind a shed or garage, for example.
- Some people order tanks that will fit neatly under a house or patio so that they are not visible to guests who come for a BBQ for example.
- You could design your structures so that the tank will fit in and look like a deliberate part of the design, or you could build a structure that deliberately hides the tank.
