Lighting Plans P2

4. Think about future light levels and design for maximum installation life. If you have decided to purchase Wattsaver Lighting Solutions Led downlights then I'm preaching to the converted. Solid State Lighting does not fail catastrophically it slowly fades. A good quality led chip dims at a gradual predictable rate. But the light output today will have diminished in 5 years time. So the Wattsaver Lighting's Philopsopy is start with a high light level, meaning in five years time you still have a viable light level. It's better to run the lighting dimmed in the first 5 years and then turn them up in the later years. So consider achieving brighter than currently required light levels with leds in year one to ensure you are happy with the light levels in later years. This means closer than needed spacing has its benefits later in the products life.
I have lost sales to cheaper dimmer lighting products because they "seem bright enough now". I've read on forums that the Wattsaver product is too bright and the import is good enough, so why pay that bit extra. Considering that the poor quality chip in the import will have a very rapid decent in its light output, will you be happy with the light output in 2 years time. And this comes back to our reason for manufacturing in Australia - LEDs should have a long service life.

You need to consider the color temperature. We currently have 4 choices, cool 6000 k, natural 4500k, sunrise 3000k and warm white 2800k. Our biggest seller is the natural and the sunrise. I suggest you sample these 2 variants and make a considered decision, its a long time between bulb changes with led's. But you can use both colors in different zones, it works well and its done all the time.
I also suggest you use the diffuser to soften the light, slightly increase the spread, the color rendering and reduce the halo effect on walls and glare. You do loose about 4% of the light output and thus slightly reduce efficiency but we can afford it with our product.

Finally - can LEDs match halogen lights in terms of light quality. Yes and Wattsaver Lighting Solutions will be the first to release this technology in the Australian market, at least 2 years ahead of the main stream China based manufacturers. Watch this space.
