How to choose the right rangehood for your kitchen.
There are many factors to consider when selecting your new rangehood. Style, suction, noise and lighting all play a crucial part in your decision.
Style
Rangehoods come in different styles and orientations.
Wall Canopies
This type of rangehood is positioned against a wall over your cooktop. The air and odour are ducted to the outside of your house through the wall via the Silent Isodrive motor. Wall canopies are known for their excellent performance.
Island Canopies
This type of rangehood setup is required if your kitchen has an island cooking area. A popular modern layout common in homes with open plan living areas. Island canopies also have excellent extraction abilities. The air and odour are ducted to the outside of your house through the roof via the Silent Isodrive motor.
Undermount Canopies
An undermount rangehood is built into a cupboard above your cooktop. This is the best way to hide away your rangehood while still having optimal performance. The air and odour are ducted to the outside of your house through the wall via the Silent Isodrive motor.
Cassette Rangehoods
This type of rangehood can be installed into a bulkhead or the ceiling. Ultra modern in design and unique in function, the ceiling cassettes offer excellent extraction. The air and odour are then ducted to the outside of your house through the roof via the Silent Isodrive motor.
Suction
The level of suction required from your rangehood will depend on the type of food you cook and the amount of cooking you undertake. A rangehood with sufficient power will ensure that all smoke, steam and odours are removed from your kitchen.
Noise
This is an area where you do not have to worry with Schweigen rangehoods. Our silent rangehoods come equipped with the IsoDrive motor system which is the quietest domestic extraction motor and fan available. The motors are placed externally outside your home generating little or no noise inside your kitchen. So you can cook in peace and not have to worry about hearing a “jet engine” every time you turn your rangehood on.
Lighting
When choosing your rangehood the correct lighting should not be overlooked. Being able to see what you’re doing is important. Our rangehoods come with either halogen or LED lighting to ensure you always cook your meals to perfection.
Halogen lighting is bright, white and focused. Halogen lights are more energy efficient than standard incandescent lights, but not as energy efficient as fluorescent lights or LED lights. The bulbs generate heat as well as light and can get quite hot.
LED (light emitting diode) lighting is very energy efficient. These lights generate very little heat which means almost all the energy they consume is turned into light. They also last a long time (about 50 times longer than your average incandescent bulb).
With all this information at your disposal you are now ready to select your ideal rangehood.
With our rangehoods we have made this whole process as simple as possible. Choosing a Schweigen Silent Rangehood is as easy as 1,2,3.
