Pelicans

I simply adore the Pelicans that populate the Mornington Peninsula.
They are such wondrous creatures, with the varying shapes they adopt with their long flexible necks and huge beaks.
I love the way they walk/waddle across the sand and yet glide so gracefully through the water.
Watching them in flight is quite extraordinary. It is awe inspiring. And theyhave such kind and natures. Pelicans will stand quietly and patiently waiting for the local fisherman to cast off scraps, while flocks of greedy seagulls shriek noisily.
Above all pelicans are a joy to paint.
Sometimes when life has been tough or I am feeling a bit low, I will grab my camera and drive ten minutes down the road to the Hastings pier.
The mere sight of these wonderful birds is always uplifting
