Contemplation

This has always been one of my favourite paintings.
I had driven to the Hastings pier on many occasions and taken any number of photographs - later deleting most of them.
Somehow however, I knew this particular day was different.
Blue sky, some wispy white clouds and lots of sunshine. Warm but not hot.
I think it was the unique combination of boats, colours, the water and its reflections and of course the wonderful pelican.
I usually spend a lot of time sifting through a bulky wad of photos, in search of just the right pelican to complement a scene.
In this case, there was no need. The original composition was as natural as it was enchanting.
