Building and the Art of Timing - Part 2
Waxing Moon
After conceiving and imagining, the two weeks of Waxing Moon are ideal to research, get quotes and prices in the first quarter, buy the materials needed in the second quarter. The delivery tends to be around Full Moon.
Timbers (and other materials too) tend to expand when the moon is waxing because it absorbs moisture from the atmosphere. Floor boards laid in the waxing phase will later when the moon is waning release moisture, contract and create gaps. The same goes for fence posts.
Full Moon
The energy cumulates around Full Moon and often the materials turn up. This also can be a crisis point, simply because the project’s pressure is at its highest when the sun and moon oppose each other.
Best to avoid laying floor boards because their moisture content is highest now and in the next two weeks the timber will release moisture and shrink.
.
Waning Moon
This is the best time for actually doing the building and renovating work itself. Now practical work is favored and jobs will naturally flow and show good results. It is worthwhile to take care of details and tidy things up as one goes.
Timber releases moisture now and it is the best time to lay wooden floors and set fence posts, particularly in the third quarter, closer to the New Moon. Working with timber now prevents unwanted gaps and promotes long lasting results.
3. Elements
The twelve signs of the zodiac are grouped into the four elements: Fire, Earth, Air and Water. Each element has its own quality and we notice those different qualities lending themselves to different activities.
Fire
Aries, Leo and Sagittarius are grouped into the fire element and their quality is warm.
You will find the day is relatively warm, even without sunshine. This is a great time for paint jobs because it will dry in no time.
Earth
Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn are grouped into the earth element and their quality is cold.
You will experience the day as cooler and find that it is ideal for earth moving work and pouring concrete.
Air
Gemini, Libra and Aquarius are grouped into the air element and their quality is light.
Even a cloudy day seems to be light and even glary. Working on damp places, treating and removing mould is most successful when done on an air moon day.
Water
Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces are grouped into the water element and their quality is moist.
You can feel the dampness in the atmosphere and in the ground. Avoid working with timber, because its moisture content is higher than on other days.
