Choosing a bath tub - Your scope/range will be governed by the nature of your renovation/build.

The below list is an overview from least to most options available to you:
  • Are you replacing JUST the bath tub?
  • Are you renovating the whole bathroom:
    • bathroom layout unchanged or
    • bathroom layout changed
    • bathroom limits (as in walls) unchanged or
    • bathroom limits (as in walls) changed
  • Are you renovating JUST the bathroom or
    • renovation the whole house, or
    • its a new home, already designed and built or
    • yet to be designed and built.
It's not hard to see how the range of options increases as you move down the above list.

Other considerations are:
  • Access to the bathroom, which is governed in part by the 'nature' of the renovations/build (refer to the above list) - All doorways and corridors must be large enough to accommodate the bath tub.
  • Your budget
If you’re JUST replacing the bath tub, then I'd first ask why? If its stained, cracked or damaged in some way then I suggest you check online for bath repairer companies. Some will even insert a bath shell within the existing bathtub.

Remember, to 'test' whatever decision you make against your 'purpose' and desired 'outcome', this will keep you on track.
